Job Summary
Embed, cut via microtome, and prepare slides with routine H&E, immunohistochemical, and special staining procedures. Perform and document scheduled instrument maintenance while recognizing when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining. Champion safety, compliance, and quality control in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards. Work Monday through Friday from 4:30 am to 1:00 pm with rotating paid on-call for Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. This role involves routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI) requiring strict confidentiality and adherence to privacy standards.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months of histology laboratory experience (embedding, cutting, etc.)
- HT/HTL certification or graduation from a school of Histotechnology
- Strong reading, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to safely operate general laboratory equipment
- Routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Training on reasonable safeguards for PHI
- Strict confidentiality regarding PHI
- Adherence to applicable privacy and security standards
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP HT/HTL certification
- Graduate from a school of Histotechnology accredited by CAHEA/NAACLS
- Documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience
