Job Summary
Process, embed, section, stain, and coverslip tissue specimens for routine histology and special stains, while performing microtomy to prepare high-quality slides for dermatopathology review. Accurately label cassettes, blocks, and slides using patient accession numbers and maintain organized filing systems. Execute and document quality control procedures on laboratory equipment, reporting malfunctions to leadership. Adhere to laboratory safety standards, quality assurance protocols, and established histotechnician procedures in a clean, compliant work environment. Assist with additional laboratory duties as assigned. Requires HT(ASCP) certification or eligibility, an associate degree in Laboratory Science, and minimum two years of histology experience with strong microtomy skills. Shifts run Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of histology laboratory experience
- Strong microtomy skills
- Comfortable performing high-volume tissue sectioning
- Ability to cut a minimum of 125 blocks per 8-hour shift
- Ability to prepare three-level slides with accuracy and consistency
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science, Histology, or a related field
