Job Summary
Embed, microtome, and cryotome specimens while performing routine H&E, special stains, immunohistochemical, and in situ hybridization techniques to prepare high-quality slides for pathologist review. Accession and identify specimens, then collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results. Support training and onboarding of students and new employees while adapting to unique workflows in neurology subspecialty laboratories. This role contributes to accurate patient diagnoses and advancing scientific knowledge within the Neurology Laboratories at Mayo Clinic.
Required Qualifications
- Histology Technician or Histotechnologist (HT/HTL)
- Specimen accessioning and identification
- Specimen processing and embedding
- Microtomy techniques, including: Paraffin, Frozen (cryotomy), Plastic sections
- Routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining
- Special stains
- Immunofluorescence
- Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining
- In situ hybridization
