Job Summary
Histology Lab Assistant responsible for morning slide turn out and accurate routing of slides for pathologists, QC checks of blocks to slides, completion and turn out of IHC and special stains, accessioning cases, reagent maintenance, filing of blocks and slides, and assisting pathologists and histologists. Will handle histology duties including embedding, microtomy, and special stains; learn and apply histology skills; maintain safety standards; participate in team meetings and mentor new staff as requested; and contribute to department goals while staying current with knowledge through continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher preferred
- One year in a medical laboratory preferred
- Knowledge of handling chemical and biohazardous material desired
- Basic knowledge of biology and medical terminology
