Job Summary
Plan, layout, weld, install, test and repair high-pressure pipe systems in shipyard environments. Perform welding of pipe and tubular products using TIG welding, SMAW and related processes; read blueprints, diagrams, and work orders; verify welds to code standards; fabricate/install supports, valves, fittings, and related components; test installed piping systems and troubleshoot equipment; work with multiple materials including steel, stainless, and aluminum; ensure water-tight penetrations and high-quality welds; strict adherence to safety policies; able to operate hand and power tools and work with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years’ pipe welding experience
- Experience with x-ray pipe welding in all positions
- Knowledge of welding symbols, ship terminology, OSHA standards, and ABS standards
- Must pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test to become ABS Certified
- Shipyard experience
- Ability to read blueprints and weld to specified standards
- Ability to install and test high-pressure steel pipes and fittings
- Ability to work with arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc welding equipment
- Safety-conscious and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
