Job Summary
Structural Fitter position at Labor One Staffing in Brownsville, TX. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, sections, plan drawings, and weld symbols to derive material quantities; unloading and hoisting heavy steel pieces; fabricating, assembling, and installing structural steel products (beams, braces, pipes, jackets, decks); laying out and fitting pipe, beams, and jackets; cutting plate, pipe, and beams with a cutting torch; using industry tools (Come-a-longs, chain falls) and installing/removing stop plates and pad eyes; estimating sizes, times, costs, and resources; and inspecting subcontractors' work for compliance with plans and specs. Qualifications emphasize a high school diploma or equivalent and strong practical knowledge, with overtime and outdoor work expected.
Required Qualifications
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools
