Job Summary
Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions of structural, plate and mechanical materials into all types of assemblies; reads blueprints and weld symbols to determine materials and quantities; loads heavy steel pieces and hoists into place; fabricates, assembles, and installs structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates for jackets and decks; lays out and fits pipe, beams, decks and jackets, and uses a cutting torch; operatesCome-a-longs and chain falls; estimates sizes and quantities; inspects subordinate’s work for compliance with plans and specs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (may be required)
- Experience in structural steel fabrication or related field
- Ability to read blueprints, section drawings, plan drawings and weld symbols
- Ability to unload, sort, and stack heavy steel pieces and hoist into place
- Proficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout tools and measurement tools
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions; climb and work at heights; work overtime, nights, and weekends as required
- Observance of safety and project rules; ability to inspect work and ensure compliance
