Job Summary
Shipfitters needed for a shipyard project in California and Texas. Responsibilities include assembling, cutting, grinding metal structural parts; aligning parts according to blueprints; tack welding foundation and structural members; laying out holes per blueprints; driving wedges and installing temporary fasteners for welding; and performing other related tasks. Required skills include interpretation of blueprints, knowledge of ship terminology and metals, welding (FCAW, SMAW recommended), good burning/craftsmanship, mechanical aptitude, ability to pass a hands-on assessment, and the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under various shifts. Typical duties also involve use of welding equipment, grinders, cutting torches, rigging, cranes, and safety protocols; lifting up to 50 lbs; operating in a shipyard environment with exposure to fumes, dust, and noise.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of on the job experience

- ship terminology
- metals knowledge
- T-1 welding certificate required for FCAW (flux core)
- SMAW (stick) optional but highly recommended
- ability to pass hands on assessment test
- English language comprehension
- ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on any assigned shift
- literacy in safety instructions and warnings
