Job Summary
Shipfitters needed at a San Diego shipyard; responsibilities include welding, tacking, burning, scarfing; must pass FCAW weld tests (2F-4F VT and fracture tests), read English instructions, safety; background/vision/drug checks required; able to work any shift and overtime; $160 per diem (eligible); walk-ins accepted; on-site positions in San Diego, National City, and Tampa (multiple locations) with on-site, in-person work arrangements. Must be able to pass inspections and adapt to shipyard safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- 4-5 years of shipyard experience
- Welding, tacking, burning, and scarfing
- Must pass Ship fitter Welding Assessment: FCAW
- Fillet weld plates: 2F 3F 4F (VT test); Fillet testing 1-2 hours
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
- Must be able to hear warning signals and read safety instructions
- Must pass background check, vision test, and drug test
- Must be able to work any shift and overtime
- Walk-ins accepted
