Job Summary
Shipfitters needed for labor at a San Diego, CA shipyard. Role involves welding, tacking, burning, scarfing, and completing FCAW welding assessments; candidates must pass Fillet weld tests (2F/3F/4F, VT) and T Bar tests (2F/3F/4F with VT and fracture tests). English-language reading/writing required; ability to hear safety warnings and follow instructions; background, vision, and drug screening required; ability to work any shift and overtime. Required Qualifications
- 4-5 years of shipyard experience
- Ship fitter knowledge: Welding, tacking, burning, scarfing
- Must pass FCAW welding assessment
- Must pass Fillet weld tests 2F 3F 4F (VT test) and related testing for T Bar 12X4” 3/8” thick (VT and Fracture test)
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English)
- Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
- Must pass background check, vision test and drug test
- Must be able to work any shift and overtime
