Job Summary
Riggers for shipyard project responsible for rigging materials to lift, move and position onto ships or around the yard, communicating instructions to crane operators and forklift drivers, locating and loading/unloading materials, testing and installing rigging equipment (cargo booms, elevators, boat davits, etc.), and selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, and related gear based on load requirements. Must have five years of shipyard or Boatswain Mate Second Class level experience, high school-equivalent education, and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Required Qualifications
- Five years experience at ship yards or five years experience as Boatswain Mate Second Class P. O. or above.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of all rigging equipment, ability to test shipboard and yard equipment.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces and to access and move around ship safely.
