Hiring Pipefitters *Shipyard*

Pipefitter lays out, installs, and maintains vessels' piping systems (heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure and oil lines). Works from blueprints, uses hand tools and shop machines, and cuts/bores holes in bulkheads and decks for pipe installation. Sets up piping systems onboard, welds support brackets, connects pipes to fixtures, and fabricates piping runs within vessel modules. Tests installed systems for leaks using hydrostatic and other equipment. Often works with an apprentice or helper; must read layouts/blueprints and manage precise, problem-solving work with attention to detail. Physical demands include standing for extended periods and handling heavy items; typical work hours range from 40 to 70 per week.
