Job Summary
Pipe fitter journeyman responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems such as Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust, etc., in accordance with work item specifications. Also responsible for providing direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Must interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards; adhere to OSHA PPE requirements. Housing assistance is available and per diem is available for those that qualify. Walk-ins accepted. Location options include on-site work in San Diego, CA area, with related listings in Bremerton, WA and National City, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear PPE per OSHA standards
- Must be able to effectively confer job-related information in writing
- Must have thorough knowledge of P-73 joint fit-up
- Must interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards
- Must possess knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting
- Must be able to operate and care for tools and equipment
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and understand US customary and metric measurements
- 3-5 years of pipefitting shipyard experience
