Job Summary
Journeyman pipefitter for a long-term shipyard project. Responsible for removing, repairing, laying out, fabricating, installing, and testing marine piping systems (e.g., Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Engine Exhaust). Provide direction to improvers and helpers as directed by the supervisor. Must read and interpret instructions, drawings, and general correspondence; possess thorough knowledge of ship construction and P-73 joint fit-up; operate and maintain PPE in accordance with OSHA; able to interpret drawings and Navy/MSC/ABS standards; 3-5 years of pipefitting shipyard experience. Housing assistance and per diem available for qualifying personnel. Walk-ins accepted at Labor One, San Diego area locations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ship construction.
- Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required PPE per OSHA standards.
- Must be able to effectively confer job-related information in writing.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of experience with P-73 joint fit-up.
- Must be able to interpret drawings, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals.
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of equipment and work processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and targeting.
- Must be able to operate and care for equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; understand US customary and metric measurement systems.
- Must have at least Three (3-5) years of pipefitting shipyard experience.
