Job Summary
Welds a variety of metal surfaces or pipe using welding equipment on shipyard projects. Welds shell plating and fabricated components for vessels, tanks or structural assemblies; performs related tasks as assigned. Requires setting up tools and equipment, tacking and welding pipe, cleaning weld area, and complying with safety requirements. Three years of welding experience with proficiency across flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal positions; skilled in SMAW, flux-core, TIG welding, and air arc. Must pass shipyard plate tests in all positions and 6G pipe tests using FCAW/GTAW, and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces; ability to read and follow English instructions and safety warnings.
Required Qualifications
- Three years experience in welding
- knowledge of welding procedures
- proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc
- SMAW and flux-core
- tig welding and air arc skills
- Must pass shipyards plate test in all positions and pipe test on 6G restricted fix position using FCAW and GTAW processes
- Must be certified to operate high reaching equipment
- Must have ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English)
- Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings
