Job Summary
Welds a variety of metal surfaces or pipe using various welding equipment, including shell plating and fabricated components for vessels, tanks or structural assemblies; performs related tasks as assigned. Must have three years of welding experience, knowledge of procedures, and proficiency in SMAW, flux-core, TIG, GTAW; must pass shipyard plate test in all positions and 6G pipe test, be certified to operate high-reach equipment, and be able to work at heights and in confined spaces; able to work any shift. Essential tasks include setting up welding equipment, welding pipe and joints, cleaning weld areas, and other duties as needed. Experienced with welding leads, ventilation, PPE, and general shipyard safety and processes.
