Job Summary
Welds a variety of metal surfaces or pipe using various welding equipment in a shipyard setting. Performs shell plating, fabricated components for vessels/tanks, and other structural assemblies per specifications. Tasks include setting up tools and welding equipment, tacking and welding pipe, cleaning weld areas, and performing related duties. Requires three years of welding experience, shipyard experience, proficiency across welding positions and processes (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, TIG), ability to pass 6G pipe tests, and certification to operate high-reaching equipment. Must work at heights, in confined spaces, and follow safety instructions in English. Walk-ins accepted; multiple contact numbers and physical site in National City, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Three years welding experience
- Shipyard experience required
- Proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc welding
- SMAW and flux-core, TIG welding and air arc skills
- Must pass shipyard plate test in all positions and pipe test on 6G restricted fix position using FCAW and GTAW
- Must be certified to operate high-reaching equipment
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Able to read and comprehend safety instructions in English
