Job Summary
Plan, lay out, weld, install, test and repair pipe and similar tubular products in a shipyard setting per plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Welds to required standards using various welding processes (arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, TIG) on high-pressure steel pipes and fittings; read layouts/blueprints/diagrams; install supports, valves, and other equipment; test installed piping systems; work with minimal supervision; maintain safety and comply with OSHA/ABS standards; willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must pass 6G pipe tests (stainless and aluminum, carbon steel) for ABS certification; shipyard experience required and housing assistance available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalence
- Three to five years’ pipe welding experience
- Knowledge of welding symbols and ship terminology
- OSHA and ABS standards knowledge
- Ability to pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test to become ABS Certified
- X-ray pipe welding experience
- Able to weld pipe in all positions
