Job Summary
Pipe Welders needed for a shipyard in Port St. Joe, FL. Responsibilities include planning, laying out, welding, installing, testing and repairing pipe and tubular components per plans and standards; read layouts/blueprints, perform welds to spec, install high-pressure piping, fabricate supports and fittings, and verify operation of piping systems. Must read blueprints, operate welding equipment (arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, TIG), troubleshoot equipment, and produce high-quality, water-tight welds in steel, stainless, and aluminum. Requires shipyard experience, OSHA/ABS knowledge, and passing the 6G pipe weld test; ability to work with safety policies, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Housing assistance is available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalence
- Three to five years’ pipe welding experience desired
- X-ray pipe welding experience with the ability to weld pipe in all positions
- Knowledge of welding symbols, ship terminology, OSHA and ABS standards
- Must pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test to become ABS Certified
