Job Summary
Obtain accurate health insurance benefits verification of eligibility status and assist with authorizations using electronic verification systems or by contacting payers directly. Ensure the pre-registration process is complete for all assigned accounts at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date of service. Identify copayments, coinsurance, and policy limitations, advise patients, and collect amounts before time of service. Follow up on missing authorizations and contact patients to advise rescheduling options if authorization is not obtained within 48 hours prior to service. This role requires a minimum of one to two years of medical insurance verification experience and general knowledge of medical terminology. Pay range is $19.10 to $28.60 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of medical insurance verification / authorizations experience
- general knowledge of medical terminology
- High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
- undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
Desired Qualifications
- typing skills minimum thirty (30) words per minute
- working knowledge of ICD-9/ ICD-10 and CPT coding
- demonstrated excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette skills
- basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications
- general knowledge of medical terminology
- ability to communicate clearly and effectively; excellent written skills and spelling/grammar
- experience in patient interviewing
- prior demonstrated customer-centered service experience and ability to be flexible with changing priorities, demands and requests
- demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
- strong organizational skills
- Associate's Degree
- Certified Health Access Assoc
