Job Summary
Installs, repairs and hooks up electrical services on ships in a shipyard. Lays out, pulls, installs cable and conduit, prepares work areas, drills holes, grinds metal surfaces, welds mounting equipment, and tests electrical equipment. Reads composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals. Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships, with frequent lifting and working at heights or in confined spaces; must be able to work any shift and follow safety instructions. Requires two years marine electrical experience and/or four years electrical experience, proficiency with power and hand tools, and ability to read Navy standards.
