Hiring Journey-Level Riggers

Job Summary
Journey-Level Riggers are needed to perform rigging operations on ships in San Diego area. Responsibilities include selecting cables, pulleys, winches, blocks, and attaching loads to crane hooks; directing crane operators to ensure safety; setting up hoisting equipment; testing crane loads; interpreting crane load charts and blueprints; ensuring compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations; and maintaining operational readiness across shifts. Requires shipyard experience, strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of ship terminology, blueprints, and manuals, ability to follow directions with limited supervision, and willingness to train subordinates. Must meet OSHA PPE requirements and safety rules; physical demands include climbing, lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varying environments. Required Qualifications
- Shipyard experience required
- Experience with rigging operations including lifting, moving equipment, and setting up cranes
- Knowledge of crane load charts and blueprints
- Ability to read ship terminology and manuals
- Ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision
- Willingness to train subordinates
- Must comply with OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements
