Job Summary
HIM Technician II under the HIM Coordinator performs a variety of medical records duties including data abstraction, QA/QC, archive/inventory, release of information, and ensuring regulatory standards are met. Responsibilities include processing requests, verifying authorizations, scanning/uploading records within 48 hours, maintaining logs and PHI charges, and supporting QA/QC activities. Requires basic computer literacy, knowledge of medical terminology and EHR structure, and strong interpersonal skills; bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Education/experience: Associate degree preferred or equivalent, minimum 2 years in a Medical Records/HIM environment, high school diploma required. Certified HIM credentials (HIT/RHIT) preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred
- At least 2 years experience in a Medical Record or HIM environment
- High school diploma or GED required
- HIT or RHIT certification preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
