Job Summary
Retrieve, file, and organize patient records while conducting quality checks on scanned documents and updating demographics. Process information requests, verify identities, and respond to inquiries per privacy regulations. Answer phones and assist customers in support of HIM customer service efforts. Review encounters for completeness, identify documentation deficiencies, and link them to appropriate practitioners. Respond to formal requests for medical records from third parties and review pended dictations for actions and EMR use.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- One (1) year of experience working with medical records
- One (1) year of medical office experience
- meticulous attention to detail

- proficiency in HIM systems/office software

- HIM principles
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience working with medical records in an acute care Health Information Management (HIM) environment
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR)experience
- Completion of a HIM equivalent study course
- Cerner Experience
