Job Summary
Entry-level Highway Worker in Door County responsible for assisting in maintaining and repairing State, County, and local roadways, operating dump trucks and light construction equipment, supporting snow and ice control, traffic control setup, and seasonal roadway duties. Candidates will learn and perform duties under supervision, with potential advancement to Highway Maintenance Technician after two years. Key duties include patching, debris removal, mowing, ROW clearing, sign installation and maintenance, equipment servicing, and accurate timekeeping. Required foundational skills include equipment operation, safety awareness, teamwork, communication, and a willingness to learn. Must be prepared for outdoor physical labor in varied weather, with opportunities for on-call work and emergency response; applicable certifications and licenses are required within specified timelines. Salary based on the posted hourly rate range, with a starting rate of 26.51–33.12 USD per hour, paid as hourly wages.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B and C or equivalent
- Must obtain MSHA Miner Certification within one year of hire
- Able to obtain flagger safety certification within first two years of employment
