Job Summary
Operate highway maintenance/traffic equipment, perform snow and ice removal, inspect and repair signs and pavement markings, coordinate with contractors to ensure procedures meet INDOT standards, perform winter operations, routine maintenance and emergencies (traffic control, lane closures, barricades), and participate in material testing or specialized tasks (Bridge Maintenance, Construction, Geotechnical) as assigned. Requires CDL within 90 days, drug testing, ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, and a High School Diploma or equivalent. Health and safety, compliance with INDOT specs, and potential supervisory responsibilities based on agency needs are part of this role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE)
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain within first 90 days of employment
- Pass drug test as a condition of employment
- Knowledge of highway guidelines, laws, and regulations for construction inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair
- Ability to lead and coordinate field crew
- Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents
- Ability to endure inclement weather and perform physically demanding tasks (lift 50 pounds)
- A degree is not required; experience in related roles may be considered
