Job Summary
Perform detailed design work for highway and transportation projects, including intersections, road widenings, interchanges, and smaller enhancements. Prepare engineering documents for project advertisements and construction while conducting design calculations and technical analysis. Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and sub-consultants to ensure design alignment, and assist with project budgeting, cost estimates, and schedule tracking. Conduct site visits and inspections to gather data, address design-related questions during execution, and travel occasionally for meetings and assessments. This hybrid role is available in Mechanicsburg, PA, for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and 6+ years of highway design experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited program
- 6+ years of experience in highway and transportation design
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Strong hands-on experience with roadway, intersection, and interchange projects
- PennDOT and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) design experience preferred
- Proficiency in design and plan preparation using MicroStation and related software
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies
