Required Qualifications

  • A Professional Engineers license in Indiana is required; exceptions may be considered for candidates holding an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification who are actively pursuing PE licensure in Indiana
  • valid Driver's License
  • extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, methods, and procedures
  • broad knowledge of planning, design, or construction of highway or transportation project features
  • extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and procedures governing incumbents in this field
  • computer aided design and drafting skills
  • ability to prepare and review complex design plans and reports
  • ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric, and higher mathematical computations
  • knowledge of AASHTO, ASTM standards; IDM, IMUTCD; INDOT standards and drawings
  • familiarity with SPMS, dTIMS, ArcGIS, WMS
  • experience requirement: at least 4 years in engineering or related field (degree not required)
  • may require bridge-related training depending on specialty
