Job Summary
Conduct geometric design analysis and prepare highway design plans, profiles, and cross-sections using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Execute design calculations and technical reports to ensure compliance with Canadian highway standards and safety regulations. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on drainage, geotechnical, and environmental matters while participating in site visits to assess existing conditions. Maintain organized project files and propose practical solutions for identified design challenges. Support the development of project schedules and budgets related to design activities.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for highway design and drafting
- Knowledge of highway geometric design principles and standards (Ontario/Canadian regulations)
- Understanding of traffic engineering concepts and transportation planning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in civil engineering, highway design, or transportation infrastructure projects
- Experience with Civil3D and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of environmental assessment and permitting processes
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or progress toward licensure
