Job Summary
Inspect, test, and maintain medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment in substations, industrial facilities, and renewable energy sites. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and protective relays while diagnosing failures and supporting troubleshooting activities. Assist with commissioning new substations, modifications, and system upgrades, and prepare accurate technical field reports. Interpret electrical schematics and drawings to ensure safe operation and follow all health, safety, and lockout/tagout procedures. Travel throughout Northwestern Ontario to client sites as required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, Electrical Apprenticeship, Journeyperson Electrician certification, or an equivalent electrical trade qualification
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with medium and high-voltage electrical systems
- Working knowledge of switchgear, circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, protective relays, and associated electrical apparatus
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection and control drawings, and single-line diagrams
- Experience using electrical testing equipment including insulation resistance testers, relay test sets, transformer test equipment, and other diagnostic tools
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards and safe work practices
- Valid Class G Driver's License with the ability to travel throughout Northwestern Ontario and work at client sites as required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience performing testing, maintenance, commissioning, or repair of substation and industrial electrical equipment is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- experience with digital field reporting software
