High Voltage Rectifier Technician

Job Summary

Maintain and repair high voltage rectifier systems, switchgear, and transformers while coordinating with operations to drive reliability improvements. Execute electrical switching procedures, troubleshoot root causes of equipment failure, and apply preventive maintenance strategies to support Chemicals and Utilities Operations. Read and markup electrical drawings, manage control loops and interlocks, and actively participate in the Decatur Site Safety Culture. Work call-ins, overtime, and unscheduled hours as needed to complete multiple tasks accurately without constant supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree – preferably electrical or instrumentation
  • High school (or equivalent) education AND achieve a 4 or higher in the following Work Keys subjects: Locating Information, and Applied Technology
  • Electrical (15kV and below) and rectifier experience in a chemical plant or other industrial facility
  • PLC skills
  • Experience with protection relaying
  • Ability to read/create/markup electrical drawings
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting substation switchgear equipment
  • Experience in writing and executing electrical switching procedures
  • Knowledge of high voltage transformers, breakers, motor starters, and motors
  • Experience with 12 Pulse Rectifier Systems
  • Experience with control loops, interlocks, and distributive control systems (DCS)
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance strategies for switchgear and rectifier systems
  • Willingness to work call-ins, overtime and unscheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks accurately and without constant supervision
  • Basic computer skills (MS Windows, MS Office, SAP)
  • Knowledge of SEL protection and metering relays
  • Must be in your current role for one calendar year in order to qualify to transfer
