Job Summary
Electrical Engineer role in Ramboll's Power Systems department focusing on HV cable design for onshore (underground) projects and offshore wind initiatives. Key duties include reviewing project documents and preparing technical reports, performing cable rating and thermal calculations, onshore bonding design and jointing arrangements, route development and installation strategy (direct burial, HDD, drilling), interface with transition joint bay, substations, and civil works, and conducting cable factory and site inspections (travel may be required). Ideal candidates will have a university degree in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of HV cable design experience up to 400 kV, proficiency with Cymcap or similar rating software, familiarity with international and local standards, and strong English language skills (Dutch/German are a plus). The role is based in Madrid, Spain, with a hybrid remote working arrangement and opportunities for travel to international sites.
Required Qualifications
- Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering
- +3 years’ experience in onshore (underground) HV cable design 66KV up to 400KV
- Experience in Cymcap or other cable rating software
- Experience in working with cable related international and local standards
- Fluent in English. Dutch and German languages are big plus to deal with local clients
- Experience in cable accessories is a plus
- Experience in cable installation and civil works is a big plus
- Experience with Fiber optic cable is a plus
