Job Summary
High School Art Teacher/Coach responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in art, developing and executing lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and TEA guidelines, assessing student learning, and supporting student growth. Collaborates with special education staff to adapt curricula per IEPs, manages classroom behavior, and sponsors extracurricular activities as assigned. Maintains professional communication with parents and staff, participates in professional development, adheres to district safety procedures, and oversees instructional aides as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- AED and CPR certificates for Physical Education teachers (if applicable)
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and TEA guidelines
- Ability to assess student learning styles and plan instructional activities
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs
- Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers
- Manage classroom environment and student behavior
- Establish professional communication with parents and community
- Participate in staff development and comply with regulations
- Direct the work of instructional aides
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
