Job Summary
Oversee a student gathering area to promote study habits and assist in developing age-appropriate program activities that encourage academic growth. Guide new and transfer students through school tours, provide resources for joining clubs or the National Honor Society, and offer support for registration in online programs and credit-recovery courses. Establish relationships with students and classrooms to foster a positive learning environment, while providing early warning interventions and referring students to appropriate personnel for attendance or academic challenges. Administer first aid as needed and assist administration in promoting student recognition milestones such as Honor Roll and stellar attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check
- Associates (minimum 48 semester hours) or Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution
- Experience working with high school age students (14-18 yrs old)
- CPR/First Aid certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of employment
- Effective communication skills with both children and adults; speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, scanner, fax machines, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or another related field
- 21 years of age or older
- Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand
