Job Summary
Student Assistance Coordinator at Hasbrouck Heights School District—provide comprehensive mental health, crisis intervention, prevention, and student assistance services to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. Responsibilities include providing individual and short-term mental health counseling, conducting crisis assessments and intervention, coordinating substance abuse prevention and wellness programming and testing procedures, supporting re-entry after hospitalization or treatment, providing substance abuse prevention/intervention/assessment/referral/follow-up services for students and families, serving as district liaison to DCPP and Handle with Care initiatives, liaising with CIACC and juvenile justice/community agencies, supporting students and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability, serving as HIB Specialist, participating on the School Safety Team, and collaborating with community agencies (Prosecutor's Office, DEA, and mental health organizations) to deliver educational programming.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
- Valid New Jersey Student Assistance Coordinator Certification or eligibility required
- Relevant experience in school counseling, mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and/or substance abuse services preferred
