Job Summary
Para-educator II supports the instructional program under supervision of the certificated teacher in life-skills settings. Develops plans/materials/activities for students, communicates with students/staff/parents, applies positive behavior supports, maintains documentation, collaborates with supervising teacher, and may assist with adaptive daily tasks (eating, dressing, toileting) and independent living skills (cooking, laundry, hygiene) under guidance of the teacher/nurse. Requires experience with P-12 students, some higher education or associate degree or ParaPro, basic computer literacy, punctuality, flexibility, and ability to work in noisy/crowded environments; may require First Aid/CPR and background checks; employment contingent on district processes.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education, it must meet the criteria of the Higher Education Act, Section 101 (a). All classes must be at level 100 or higher, OR
- Associate’s degree OR
- Pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment test.
- Experience working with P-12 students.
- First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain.
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills.
- Demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance.
- Demonstrate flexibility with schedule changes as students’ needs change.
- Work in noisy and crowded environments.
Desired Qualifications
