Job Summary
High School Special Education Math Teacher will develop lesson plans and classroom activities aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards, provide individualized and small-group instruction for grades 9-12, create instructional materials, monitor academic progress, maintain classroom discipline, and communicate with parents and community. Responsibilities include delivering board-adopted curricula, planning age-appropriate activities, assessing student learning, maintaining records, and collaborating with professional staff. Employment conditions include a contract year from July 1 to June 30, and reporting to the Principal/Designated Administrator at Barack Obama Green Charter High School. Requires valid New Jersey instructional certificate and subject-area endorsement (or eligibility) and residency in New Jersey within policy timeframes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment
