Job Summary
High School Spanish Teacher responsible for instruction, data analysis, and school culture. Develops students' bilingual skills through a curriculum that prepares them for AP and college coursework; differentiates instruction; builds positive relationships with students and families; collaborates with the Spanish department to set academic and engagement goals; participates in weekly meetings, professional development, and coaching; engages in practice-based development and mentorship; meets with principal/coach to analyze trends in student work and assessments; fosters cultural awareness and confidence in speaking Spanish.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have a degree in education
- NY state certification within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Academic expertise in Spanish or related fields
- 1-2 years experience preferred in impacting K-12 urban students
