Job Summary
High School Spanish Teacher role in Uncommon Schools with responsibilities spanning instruction, data-driven planning, and school culture. Build students' bilingual Spanish skills using AP-level and collegiate coursework preparation; facilitate reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Spanish; foster cultural awareness and confidence in dialogue. Collaborate with Spanish department to set academic and engagement goals; analyze student work with principals/coaches to differentiate instruction; contribute to weekly school-wide meetings, family partnerships, and staff coaching. Requires a demonstrated interest in impacting urban K-12 students and Spanish-language academic expertise; bachelor’s degree and NJ certification eligibility are prerequisites, with NJ certification required after starting employment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NJ state certification eligibility requirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if you graduated prior to 9/1/16)
- All instructional staff are required to become certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment
