Job Summary
High School Science Teacher at Uncommon Schools: Teach and develop Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning and student discourse. Facilitate student-led inquiry, lab and project-based tasks, and data-driven analysis to build scientific reasoning. Collaborate with the Science department to set academic goals, differentiate instruction for diverse learners, and participate in weekly meetings with administration and instructional coaches. Build positive relationships with students and families, engage in ongoing professional development, and work toward New Jersey certification within a reasonable period after starting. Requires a Bachelor's degree; teacher certification eligibility in NJ is required, with certification pursued after employment. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- NJ state certification eligibility requirements (final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if graduated prior to 9/1/16)
- All instructional staff are required to become certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment
