Job Summary
School Counselor responsibilities include direct counseling in school for students with emotional, social, or educational needs (short-term and long-term), academic and post-secondary planning, proactive collaboration with parents, administrators, teachers, and other mental health providers, participation in Student Support Teams and other intervention programs, development and implementation of school-wide counseling initiatives, maintaining confidentiality, and utilizing student information systems to manage records, schedules, and applications. The role also entails 504 case management, collaboration with community/state agencies, and ongoing professional development to support an inclusive, equitable learning environment for all students and staff. Qualifications require a Master’s Degree in School Counseling and a Massachusetts DESE School Counselor license (or active process to earn).
