Job Summary
High School Math teachers collaborate in grade and content teams to guide students toward self-guided learning. They teach Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus using a Math curriculum with opportunities to prepare students for AP and college coursework, differentiate instruction, analyze student work trends, and foster a classroom community where students feel seen, loved, and empowered. The role includes partnership with families, participation in weekly meetings and professional development, and alignment with the school's core values to promote student achievement in urban settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if not in education
- Must become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- 1-2 years of experience in impacting K-12 students in urban schools (preferred)
- Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields
