Job Summary
Plan and deliver culinary arts curriculum aligned to state standards and CTE pathways while teaching food preparation, cooking methods, nutrition, and kitchen management. Instruct students on food safety and sanitation, maintain a safe and organized kitchen environment, and assess progress through practical and written evaluations. Manage inventory, equipment, and food ordering within budget, and collaborate with staff on interdisciplinary projects connecting math, business, and science. Supervise students during labs, ensure proper equipment use, and communicate regularly with families and staff. This virtual contractor role supports the Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy's mission to provide personalized education through hands-on, real-world application.
Required Qualifications
- Michigan Math Teaching Certification
- Reside in Michigan
- Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Education, Hospitality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain CTE certification)
- Ability to clear required background check
- Professional culinary or food service experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
