Job Summary
Teach up to three students simultaneously during after-school and evening shifts (4:00pm–8:00pm) and some Saturdays (10:00am–3:00pm) in a pre-planned, in-person setting. Guide students through Grades 9–12 math and science topics including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology while following Oxford Learning's proprietary methodologies. Complete daily student communication updates and post-lesson notes, maintaining a friendly, professional manner that builds student confidence and self-esteem. Applicants must reside near Richmond Hill, undergo vulnerable sector screening, and commit through the school year with summer availability preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students' understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
- Work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00am - 3:00pm)
- Commitment until the end of the school year
