Job Summary
Coordinate and coordinate IEP caseloads at a high school level: schedule and attend IEP meetings, gather data, facilitate the completion of all Functional Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) in the building, and serve as Administrative Designee in initial IEP meetings. Review IEPs for accuracy and completion, work with diagnosticians and ancillary staff servicing students with disabilities, and collaborate with the District IEP Coordinator and the Director of Exceptional Programs. Provide direct and indirect coaching to general and special education staff and parents; monitor enrollment, assign caseloads, and track expiration dates and deadlines for IEPs and evaluations. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing special education services and support parents with training and information dissemination. Perform duties in accordance with district policies; maintain professional discretion under supervision and in alignment with the district’s standards. This role requires understanding of assessment processes, IEP documentation, and ongoing collaboration to place students in the least restrictive environment and support effective program delivery across the school’s special education services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree
- Valid teaching certification in special education issued by NM PED
- Five (5) years of experience working in a special education classroom.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with a demonstrated ability to shift responsibilities.
- Strong customer service orientation in approach to working with teachers, school administrators and families.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing.
