Job Summary
High School History Teacher responsible for delivering AP/prep–level coursework in World History, US History, Government, and Economics; facilitate student-led discourse, analyze primary/secondary sources, and foster an inclusive, evidence-based classroom culture. Collaborate with History department to set academic goals, analyze student work trends with weekly coaching, differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners, and engage families to support student learning. Requires collaboration, ongoing professional development, and commitment to urban K-12 education; NY certification eligibility required with eventual teacher certification in NY.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have a degree in education
- Must become certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
