Job Summary

High School History teachers work in department teams to push students toward becoming self-guided learners, teaching AP-ready World History, US History, American Government, and Economics; they foster inquiry, analyze primary and secondary sources, and develop historiography and argumentation while creating an inclusive classroom environment. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
  • Enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if not have a degree in education
  • Must become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
  • 1-2 years experience preferred in impacting K-12 urban schools
  • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities
