Job Summary
High School History Teacher to collaborate in department teams and guide students toward self-guided learning. Teach AP/college-prep World History, US History, Government, and Economics; lead text-analysis, historiography, and evidence-based argumentation through primary/secondary sources; foster an inclusive classroom environment; differentiate instruction; engage in weekly data-analysis with leadership; build strong relationships with families and partner with grade-level teams to set academic goals and instructional strategies; participate in weekly school-wide meetings and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification not required to be hired at Uncommon, but must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if you do not have a degree in education
- Must become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities
- 1-2 years experience in education preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students
