Job Summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a High School History Teacher to deliver a curriculum emphasizing analysis of World and US History, American Government, and Economics, with readiness for AP and college coursework. You will facilitate student-led discourse, develop sourcing and historiography skills from primary and secondary sources, and guide students in argumentation and evidence-based debate. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
  • Enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher if not having a degree in education
  • Must become certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
  • 1-2 years of teaching experience preferred
  • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities
