Job Summary

Lead and supervise the high school wrestling program for grades 9-12, coordinating practices, games, and travel; ensure compliance with NJSIAA and NJ DOE; mentor and manage assistant coaches and volunteers; supervise student-athletes’ academic performance, safety, and character development; coordinate scheduling, transportation, fundraising, and community outreach; maintain program presence at league, conference, and county meetings; actively communicate with parents and administration.

Required Qualifications

  • CPR/AED / Basic First Aid Certification (hands-on skills assessment required; online CPR certifications not accepted)
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching
  • Annual NFHS Training Requirements (NFHS Concussion in Sports; NFHS Heat Illness Prevention; NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest)
  • One-Time NFHS Training Requirements (NFHS Implicit Bias Course; BeNice Program)
  • Department of Education (DOE) Certification (NJ Teaching Certification or NJ Instructional Substitute Credential)
  • Background Check (criminal history)
  • Medical Fitness (proof of physical health)
  • Tuberculosis Test (Mantoux)
  • Hours: non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends; travel with team
  • Stipend expectations: travel and game attendance covered by stipend; no extra hourly compensation
  • Compliance with Federal laws, NJ DOE guidelines, NJSIAA regulations, and iLearn policies
  • Certification for staff (CPR/AED/First Aid, NFHS Concussion, Sudden Cardiac, and Heat Illness Prevention)
